Pentagon budget and program documents indicate that FY2026 will mark several critical milestones for FLRAA. Funding will support final design reviews, prototype assembly, and flight testing of the MV-75, while also enabling early production planning and further development of a digital, open-architecture framework to support future upgrades and interoperability.

The FLRAA program is designed to deliver a next-generation medium assault and transport aircraft to replace the long-serving UH-60 Black Hawk. Ultimately, the V-280 tiltrotor developed by Bell prevailed over the Boeing–Sikorsky SB>1 design and was formally designated as the MV-75.

Instead, flight mode transitions are achieved through rotor articulation, reducing mechanical complexity, maintenance burden, and lifecycle costs while improving overall reliability.

It is projected to cruise at 280 knots (approximately 518 km/h), with a combat radius exceeding 800 nautical miles (about 1,480 km), and capacity for 12 fully equipped troops—greatly enhancing air assault reach and responsiveness.
