According to Naval Today, Leonardo UK has successfully completed ground testing of the “Proteus” autonomous helicopter, developed for the British Armed Forces. The aircraft is now preparing for its maiden flight and is expected to become a key component in the Royal Navy’s manned-unmanned teaming (MUM-T) operations across surface fleets.

計畫於今年內首飛　將持續驗證自主能力

報導指出，「普羅特斯」在近期的地面測試中，已順利驗證動力、飛控與其他機體子系統性能，符合設計進度要求。英方規劃在今年內進行首飛，隨後將加速測試自主軟體與各項任務系統，以確保該機能在多變環境中有效執行任務，減輕艦隊人力負擔並提升艦載航空作戰彈性。
The report states that Proteus has successfully validated its propulsion, flight-control, and subsystem performance during ground evaluations. A first flight is scheduled within the year, followed by intensive testing of autonomous software and mission systems to ensure reliable performance across diverse operational environments while reducing personnel workload for naval forces.

Leonardo UK entered a £60 million agreement with Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) in 2022 to develop Proteus as a next-generation unmanned platform for ASW and maritime missions. The aircraft has since become a flagship achievement within the Royal Navy’s Maritime Aviation Transition (MATX) strategy, representing a major step forward in autonomous naval aviation.
