🚀 Siemens Xcelerator Powers Skyroot Aerospace’s Digital Transformation, Boosting Software Development Efficiency

News Content

In August 2025, Indian private rocket manufacturer Skyroot Aerospace announced the adoption of Polarion™ software, part of the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio, to digitally transform its software development processes and enhance project efficiency, accelerating commercial launch services worldwide.

Founded in 2018 by Pawan Kumar Chandana and Naga Bharath Daka, Skyroot made history in 2022 with the launch of Vikram-S, India’s first privately developed rocket to reach space. The company is now preparing for commercial orbital missions with Vikram-1, operating from its Hyderabad headquarters with a 500+ member team and leveraging carbon composite structures and 3D-printed engines to build flexible, cost-efficient launch vehicles.

Through Polarion, Skyroot aims to:

  • Unify software and systems engineering processes, improving team collaboration
  • Enhance traceability and regulatory compliance, ensuring mission safety
  • Streamline lifecycle management, shortening the time from design to launch

Mathew Thomas, VP and Managing Director for Siemens Digital Industries Software India, said:

“Skyroot is a pioneer in India’s private space sector, and adopting Polarion reflects its commitment to digital transformation. As India’s space industry accelerates, we are proud to support Skyroot in making spaceflight more affordable, on-demand, and versatile.”

Taiwan Perspective: Opportunities in Global Aerospace Collaboration

Taiwan’s expertise in aerospace-grade electronics, additive manufacturing, and ground-based satellite systems positions it as a potential key supplier to emerging launch providers like Skyroot. This digital transformation trend signals growing demand for:

  • High-precision aerospace sensors and data modules
  • Software validation and integration support for mission control systems
  • Composite materials and electronics for next-gen rockets targeting small satellite markets

🔍Three Key Takeaways

1️⃣ Digital transformation is becoming a core advantage for new rocket manufacturers

  • Polarion improves efficiency and reduces errors, reshaping how startup space companies build rockets.

2️⃣ Asia’s aerospace supply chain is evolving, offering Taiwan new entry points

  • As India and other emerging nations grow in space tech, Taiwan can play a pivotal role in global component supply.

3️⃣ Software-centric platforms are redefining competition in commercial space launches

  • Future rocket development will rely heavily on integrated digital engineering capabilities.
