📰 In June 2025, Poland and the Baltic states (Latvia and Lithuania) announced accelerated naval modernization plans to enhance defense capabilities against potential Russian threats.

Poland aims to procure 3 to 4 new submarines by the end of the year through the “Orka” submarine program, replacing the aging Soviet-era Kilo-class submarine ORP Orzel. Currently, designs from Germany, Sweden, and Italy are considered the most competitive options.
