AIDC President J.P. Tsao Appointed as New Chairman of Taiwan Aerospace Industry Association
On August 21, 2025, the Taiwan Aerospace Industry Association (TAIA) held its 11th General Assembly and successfully elected J.P. Tsao, President of Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC), as the new chairman. The election was prompted by the retirement of former chairman Ma Wanjun, and Tsao was unanimously elected by the board.
In his inaugural remarks, Tsao pledged to focus on resource integration, technological advancement, and international collaboration, positioning TAIA as a unified “national aerospace team.” He emphasized AIDC’s continued role as the industry’s growth engine, leading member companies to strengthen cooperation, expand global market opportunities, and enhance Taiwan’s position in the global aerospace supply chain.
To meet the growing demand for international engagement, TAIA has established five specialized committees and a business intelligence unit, covering areas such as global market trends, talent development, and technology innovation. Tsao stated that these platforms will be further optimized to accelerate talent cultivation, supply chain integration, and cross-border partnerships.
With emerging opportunities in drones, low-earth orbit (LEO) satellites, and advanced composites, Tsao highlighted the importance of increasing Taiwan’s R&D capabilities, boosting supply chain resilience, and driving digital transformation and sustainability initiatives. Additionally, TAIA plans to assist members in securing defense-related certifications, strengthen participation in national defense projects, and foster cross-industry collaborations with shipbuilding, automotive, and advanced material sectors.
Three Key Insights
1. AIDC Continues to Lead Taiwan’s Aerospace Industry
AIDC remains the industry’s core driver, with Tsao’s leadership expected to consolidate resources and enhance Taiwan’s role in the global aerospace ecosystem.
2. Expansion into Emerging Markets
The association will strategically develop capabilities in drones, LEO satellites, and composite materials to increase Taiwan’s competitiveness in next-generation aerospace technologies.
3. Defense Integration and Cross-Industry Collaboration
TAIA will facilitate members’ qualification for defense procurement, promote national defense autonomy, and strengthen partnerships across shipbuilding, composites, and automotive sectors.
