Now today, we are so happy to be here, Shin Wa Wu
It's a Haka cultural area
And today we hired a guide
He is Mr. Bao Yen Lin, and he is also in charge of all the affairs of this
historical area
So let's welcome him
Usually, when you look at a gate
Because there is a name Shi He Shi Di
“Di” means a house
And usually the Haka people, the family
We will have a special name to show where we are from
And that is our sign, that means we are from, our original place is far away in mainland, China
And we won't forget that, so it will remind us, where are we from?
We are from Shi He Shi Di
You look around there
There’s tall buildings
Very beautiful, modern city
But 25 years ago, you can look
There are rice fields
Big change, can you make a guess?
Now let's take a look at the lanterns
The red and bright, beautiful lanterns
Here is a question
What do you think that is for?
Give us the fortune to our family?
Oh, give fortune to the family
That's good, that will bring good luck
Thank you for your brilliant answer
But it's wrong
Another one? Any other ideas?
Long life
Good idea
I think I will give you the right answer
You can see things, Haka people
What is your hope and what is the future of your family?
Yeah, children
Our children are our hope, are our future
And then to value these important ideas
When new couples get married
They will prepare a pair of these lanterns here
To tell our ancestor,
“Bingo, bingo”
“We got a new pair of couples, okay”
“Now we have hope”
And now the couples after one year or two years
They have a baby, right?
If that baby is a boy
New lanterns appear again
But if that’s a girl no no no by here
“Da fang tien ding”
“Tien ding”, that sound is similar to “lantern”
Because the “ding”
“Ding” means a boy, yeah, a boy
“Tien” means add
So that will tell our ancestors
“Wow, we got a new boy coming to join our family”
Yeah right so have the view
This is from the Ching emperor
Emperor Guang Shu
So that is a very high honor for them
Because the emperor gave them this to respect them, to honor them
The first one and two, that’s our first father
So when he immigrated here, he had two sons
First son and second son
The first son had six sons
And the second son had four sons
So it ended up with generations and generations, expanding out
And why is there another portrait?
One daughter probably married the Lee family
No, again no
You see the different family name
That is Lin, that is Lin and Lee
He is the teacher
And he taught all these generations and generations
And made them well educated
So since he passed away, since he is not one of their family
To show their thanks, they still show his portrait here
They get the water from the pipe and from here,This is the kitchen
Hakka “dragon eye”“Delicious” (in Korean)
