Healing Handmade Mantou — A Cambodian Mother’s Recipe for Love
From her kitchen in Taiwan, Chang Tzu-fang, originally from Cambodia, began kneading dough not just for bread, but for her family’s health. Using only natural ingredients, she creates colorful, playful mantou (Chinese steamed buns) that keep her children both happy and well-nourished.
With encouragement from her mother-in-law, she started small at home, but her journey quickly grew. She studied, earned certifications, entered competitions, and eventually became a mantou instructor at a community college. Today, she runs her own studio and has even published recipe books to share her craft and experience.
Chang wears many hats—mother, daughter-in-law, teacher, entrepreneur—and she also dedicates herself to supporting other immigrant families. Through her work, she is challenging stereotypes of new residents in Taiwan, proving she is not just a recipient of support but a force for positive change.
