Selling Four Homes to Save 1,000 Stray Cats
In Yangmei District, Taoyuan City, a woman named Hsu has contributed her entire life and savings to rescuing stray cats.
Hsu is a kindergarten teacher who invested in five houses as part of her retirement plan. However, everything changed twenty years ago after she encountered a severely injured stray cat lying on a motorcycle seat, barely breathing. That moment marked the beginning of her long journey in animal rescue.
Over the past two decades, Hsu has rescued more than 1,000 stray cats. She sold four of her houses and invested all the proceeds into establishing “Little Pine Tree Shelter,” a foster home dedicated to stray cats.
Hsu must look after 80 more cats by herself, currently. From morning until noon, her daily routine consists of feeding, cleaning, and comforting them. Her life revolves entirely around the cats. Even though she carried more than a million loans, she remains determined to provide each cat with the best possible quality of life.
To ensure that adopted cats are truly safe, she also insists to hold face-to-face interview, and home with adopters. She continues to track each case to make sure every cat is well cared for after adoption.
“I treat every cat as my own child,” Hsu said.
Her actions reflect not only a deep respect for life, but also a powerful example of selfless dedication to protecting stray animals.
