Florennes, Belgium — October 13, 2025. As part of Belgium’s acquisition of the fifth-generation F-35 Lightning II fighter aircraft, the Belgian government signed an industrial participation agreement with Pratt & Whitney, an RTX business, during a ceremony at Base aérienne Jean Offenberg. The agreement designates Safran Aero Boosters and BMT Aerospace to jointly manufacture critical components for the F135 engine, which powers the F-35.

Safran Aero Boosters, based in Wallonia, will establish new production capabilities for key F135 engine components, while BMT Aerospace, based in Flanders, will partner in developing an innovative manufacturing concept.
This collaboration strengthens Belgium’s position in the F-35 global value chain and demonstrates balanced cooperation between the country’s two regions.
