Hospital volunteers dedicate countless hours caring for strangers, but when aging leaves, them needing assistance
themselves, who steps in to support them?

Addressing this gap, Taipei Wenshan Community College observed that nearly half of its enrolled students are over
60,bringing valuable professional expertise and community-ready time to the table. In response, the college
launched a time-banking initiative known as the "Caring other families.”

Departing from traditional financial exchange, time banking treats "time" as a currency for mutual aid. Participants
deposit their expertise and hours by serving others, earning credits to receive assistance from the local network
when needed. This reciprocal model transforms once-unacquainted neighbors into a cohesive support system.

As society ages, elder care need not rely entirely on family units or public services. By mobilizing individual
capacities and community goodwill, the "Mindful Handyman Guild" initiative redefines community colleges—shifting
them from traditional learning centers to essential hubs for local mutual aid networks.
