Fan Community’s Ten General’s Dance

The most important activity is Chiayi City’s Fan Community is practicing ‘The Ten General’s Dance’. The group came together in August, and with not even six month’s practice behind them they have already raised their standards to quite an impressive level, going as far as to represent Chiayi City in many community performances and always leaving an impression to be proud of. The group has somewhat parted from the traditional movements and transformed the performance into a more lively and vivid experience with a fabulous atmosphere. The most striking difference between the Fan Community’s ‘Ten General’s Dance’ and other groups is the fact that the performers have an average age of sixty years old. Forming the dance group has not only given these grandmas and granddads a wonderful sense of achievement but has brought them and the community closer together, developing deeper and more caring relationships.

嘉義市番社里社區重要的里民活動，是「千歲什家將」的練習，從今年八月開始，不到半年時間就有相當亮眼的成績，他們也代表嘉義市到其他社區表演，大受好評。有別於傳統民俗的文化，番社里的什家將將舞步加以改良，創造了更為活潑生動的氣氛。跟一般八家將不同的是，番社里的千歲什家將是由一群平均六十歲的阿公阿嬤所組成，不僅讓里民從中獲得成就感，里民也因為練習的互動，而讓彼此的關係更加緊密。
