Inside the reptile house at Taipei City Zoo in Muzha, you’ll find around 1000 animals including snakes, lizards, tortoises, frogs and alligators. Every day around 9 in the morning the zoo attendants are busy cleaning the area and preparing to feed the animals. It’s not until 2 in the afternoon however that the animals get their first feed. Aside from the skill of looking after the animals, zoo attendants are also required to possess a wide range of abilities, from carpentry, to good physical strength and the ability to console the animals-in short be a jack-of-all-trades. So the next time you have the opportunity to visit Taipei Zoo’s reptile house, take a different attitude to appreciate the place and I’m sure you’ll find even more amazing and wonderful things.
