1. Indigenous people’s health stations foster health, culture, and tradition

The tribal villages of Xinmei, Shanmei and Chashan are located near the central section of Highway 129 in Alishan Township. Due to changes in the structure of the economy and culture over many years, today, elderly people living in these areas are considered a vulnerable group.

The establishment of indigenous people’s health stations is assisting elderly people living in these areas to get out of the house, become more active, and maintain their health. However, on top of providing an opportunity for elderly locals to resolve any personal issues, regular meetings at the local health stations are also keeping alive the Tsou tribal culture of songs, weaving, farming, and hunting techniques, which are preserved and transmitted orally by tribal elders from one generation to the next.

嘉義阿里山鄉129線道中段的新美村、山美村與茶山村，統稱為南三村。這裡的老人因為環境的改變，像是文化、經濟等結構與方式的改變，在當前的生活裡，成為現代社會中相對弱勢的族群。

原住民文化健康站的設立，可以讓獨居長輩走出戶外，活化身體機能，保持健康。特別是阿里山鄒族的文化傳承，不論是歷史、歌謠、編織、農作及狩獵技術，都是依靠長輩口述的方式傳承。而文化健康站的設立，就可以透過穩定聚會進行世代傳承，將傳統歌謠、手工編織技術保存下來，也幫助了南三村老人所擔心的問題。
