Getting back on track through the aid of a sewing machine and sewing needle to make small bags. Many years ago, oral cancer sufferer Mr. Shang underwent repeated surgery and spent a long period fighting his illness. In addition to accompanying family members, the Sunshine Social Welfare Foundation (陽光基金會) also provides psychological and social rehabilitation. The Sunshine Foundation’s ‘Protecting Families in Danger Plan’(守護危機家庭計劃) gave Mr. Shang work making bags from home. The steady income this provided released him from the need to run around looking for a job, allowing him a proper convalescence period. From time to time, social workers visit Mr. Shang at home to show some warmhearted concern and enquire whether he needs anything. Volunteers enter the bustling Ximending streets give out postcards, and encourage passersby to write some encouraging words for children with burns, bringing some warmth to a gloomy day. The Sunshine Foundation’s charity activities are essential to ensure the public is made aware of issues surrounding facial injuries. Stories like those of Mr. Shang shows us that together we can help people in every corner of society.

用裁縫機在棉布上來回車線，一針針縫紉出小袋子的外型。多年前罹患口腔癌的商先生，經過多次地開刀與病魔抗戰的日子，除了家人的陪伴，陽光基金會也提供了他精神上的支持與關懷。陽光基金會成立守護危機家庭計劃，讓商先生手術治療後能夠從事家庭代工，在家裡縫紉提袋，不用到外面奔波勞累，也能穩定家庭收入。基金會的社工不定期的到商先生家中探望，簡單的關心與問候，溫暖了商先生的心。身穿郵筒造型的志工走入熱鬧的西門町街頭發送明信片，鼓勵路過的民眾在卡片中寫下對燒燙傷兒童加油打氣的話，讓下雨天也充滿溫暖。陽光基金會舉辦公益活動讓大家更加關心顏面損傷的人，也透過商先生的故事，發現社會角落的愛心，一同幫助需要關懷的人。
