一個成熟的社會就是這樣。將小事當大事來辦，將大事當作自己的事來處理，凡事盡力而為就無所謂大事小事了。 郵局的無法投遞郵件處理部門將心比心，溫馨感人的處理了這封信。我們的政府則是有很多該管不管的事，有更多不必管卻管太多的事。

一封給上帝的信   Letter to God

一位四歲小朋友家裡的十四歲老狗Abbey死了，小朋友無比的傷心和思念，要求母親替他寫一封信給上帝，貼了滿滿的郵票，還附上狗狗的照片，請上帝在Abbey到達天堂時照顧他。隔了一陣子，小朋友收到一封信告訴他Abbey已經到了天堂，不再有病痛，Abbey很高興和你成為朋友。信上也告訴小朋友你有一位最好的媽媽，那是我特別為你挑選的。

有位智者說過『政府就像腸胃，當他運作正常的時候你就不會感覺到他的存在』。別寄望政府，也不要怪政府，政府是個不得已（因為人民不自愛）而存在的組織，不能將所有事情往政府推。當政府無所不在，不是政府有病（政府總是不看醫生），就是人民不行了（人民老是看錯醫生），台灣就是個最明顯的例子。

計程車漲價，乘客不高興、司機也高興不起來。台語說：掐怕死、放怕飛，不漲說利潤太薄、漲了又怕生意更加難作。其實政府管得太多，和特定人民（不是全體人民）利益有關的事，政府只需定個大原則，其餘大可讓使用者、業著、工會、公會自行作決定。例如政府可以規範漲價上限，車況不同、服務有異，漲或不漲可由司機自行決定。只需在車頂裝設不同顏色的燈號，紅色表示按新費率漲價，綠色表示按舊費率不漲，讓乘客和司機都有作主選擇的權力。在這波漲價之前，你難道沒見到也有司機薄利多銷，以打折招來乘客的？這是個自由經濟的時代，乘客和司機都是老闆，無須政府『雞婆』代刨。

還是以計程車作例子，在中山北路酒泉街口，以前有個很大的計程車休息站，由於難以管理現已開放為一般停車場。政府該做的應該是替司機設想，提供可用空間和休息設備，內設投幣式熱水沐浴器，讓司機可以洗個熱水澡恢復疲勞、吃個便當甚至享受十分鐘的腳底按摩，並授權計程車公會自主管理。司機能夠很有精神的開車，不但是關心司機也改善了交通安全。任何團體都有權力要求政府協助，也有義務自主管理、要求同儕自愛、愛惜設備。我們的政府不是不管（官員不用心）就是管太多了（官員的權力慾望）。

油價上漲怪政府，卻不思考上漲的原因。國際油價大漲、黃金大漲、台幣跟著美元大跌，沒有能源的台灣油價不漲行嗎？無能的政府不敢實話實說、不敢得罪人民，不懂得趁機大力鼓吹節約能源，不敢開導人民學習過簡單的物質生活。股票下跌當然要怪政府，這方面國民黨確實作得比民進黨好很多。國民黨有黨營事業、有現金、更有個大掌櫃，一起配合著股市安定基金的操作對於股市漲跌可以達到數倍的效果，『春江水暖鴨先知』，安定基金何時進出場以黨領政的國民黨豈會不知？股民獲取微薄小利的同時，當然大掌櫃也替黨賺進了大把大把鈔票。與此相比，民進黨差矣！農產以及食品原物料大漲，民進黨該死，誰叫你無能操控農漁會，沒辦法控制媒體，國民黨所照顧的終生職總幹事會，不但可以不配合政府也可逆向遙控，加上媒體哀嚎遍野的宣染讓你死得更慘。這些都是政府該作未做，或沒有能力去作的大事。

或許我們也該寫一封信給上帝，問他台灣眼前的困境應該如何處理。

 This is one of the kindest things I've ever experienced.
I have no way to know who sent it, but there is a kind soul
Working in the dead letter office of the US postal service.
 
Our 14 year old dog, Abbey, died last month. The day after she died, my 4 year old daughter Meredith was crying and
talking about how much she missed Abbey.    She asked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abbey got to
heaven, God would recognize her. I told her that I thought we could so she dictated these words:

 
Dear God,
Will you please take care of my dog? She died yesterday
and is with you in heaven. I miss her very much. I am happy
that you let me have her as my dog even though she got sick.
I hope you will play with her. She likes to play with balls and
to swim.  I am sending a picture of her so when you see her
You will know that she is my dog. I really miss her.
Love, Meredith.
 
 
We put the letter in an envelope with a picture of Abbey and Meredith  and addressed it to God/Heaven.  We put our return address on it.    Then Meredith pasted several stamps on the front of the envelope Because she said it would take lots of stamps to get the letter all the way to heaven.  That afternoon she dropped it into the letter box at  the post office.

A few days later, she asked if God had gotten the letter
Yet. I told her that I thought He had. 
 
Yesterday, there was a package wrapped in gold paper on our front  porch addressed, "To Meredith"  in an unfamiliar hand.    Meredith opened it.   Inside was a book by Mr. Rogers called, "When a Pet Dies." Taped to the inside front cover was the letter we had written to God in its opened envelope. On the opposite page was the picture of Abbey & Meredith and this note:
 
Dear Meredith,
Abbey arrived safely in heaven.
Having the picture was a big help. I recognized Abbey right away.  Abbey isn't sick anymore. Her spirit is here with me just like it stays In your heart.  Abbey loved being your dog.  Since we don't need our bodies in heaven, I don't have any pockets to keep your picture in, so I am sending it back to you in this little book for you to keep and
have something to remember Abbey by.
 
Thank you for the beautiful letter and thank your mother for
helping you write it and sending it to me. What a wonderful mother you have. I picked her especially for you.I send my blessings every day and remember that I love you very much.

By the way, I am wherever there is love.
