Dancing through the epidemic with ingenuity

文字-A A +A

The dance company begins tonight’s performance, but the performance venue is its own dance classroom. In a situation with zero income, the dance company’s head said that in all honesty, almost all of this year’s income had come from the Cultural Affairs Bureau’s subsidies. Furthermore, when performances changed to an online format, there was the drawback of having no audience, making it difficult to engage the emotions of performers.

By inviting a small number of people to attend the live-streamed performances, the dance company was able to attract more people to participate online. The pandemic crisis has allowed dance companies to try new methods of performing, the small performer-audience distance making performances more intimate and direct. This opportunity to transform during the pandemic has shown that dance is not a refined, unreachable culture, but an interactive exchange that is both friendly and warm.
