宜蘭員山鄉豐富生物多樣性的望龍埤生態池畔落羽松正在轉紅，羽葉紛飛時節。

別名：美國水松 (台灣通稱為~落羽松) 
英文名：Bald Cypress意為「禿柏」

『落羽松』是相當有意境的名稱；取其葉狀似鳥羽，冬季時落葉片片猶如滿地的羽毛，地面隨風飄逸的羽毛與滿樹通紅的羽葉在生態池兩旁，真是浪漫極了。

In Taiwan, it called as"Fallen Feather Pine", is quite a meaningful name;  as its leaves resemble bird feathers, and in winter, the fallen leaves resemble feathers all over the ground, and the feathers fluttering in the wind, that orange red leaves of the trees alongside the Ecological Pond, just looks so romantic.

原生美國的落羽松，落葉大喬木杉科，樹型直挺優美，尤其在濕地環境中形成森林。性喜潮濕，生長在沼澤地者有木質圓柱形膝狀根，拱出地面，在排水通暢之地，生長良好；為水岸造景樹種。落羽松葉片狀似羽毛，夏季翠綠、冬季轉變為橙褐色後落葉；在台灣近年常見於埤塘濕地之景觀樹。落羽杉木材材質輕軟，紋理細緻，易於加工，耐腐朽，可作建築、杆、船舶、家具等用材。

落羽松對自然生態環境扮演著非常重要的角色。由於它們傾向於沿著河流和濕地生長，因此它們在吸收洪水和防止侵蝕方面非常出色。它們還可以捕獲污染物並防止其傳播。青蛙、蟾蜍和蝾螈使用禿柏沼澤作為繁殖地。木鴨在空心樹幹中築巢，鯰魚在水下空心原木中產卵。

Native to the United States, Bald Cypress, a large deciduous tree of the cedar family, has a straight and beautiful tree shape, especially in wetland environments to form forests. Grows in swamps have wooden cylindrical knee-like roots, arch out of the ground, in places with good drainage, grow well; Landscaping tree for the waterfront. The leaves of Bald Cypress are feather-like, emerald green in summer and orange-brown in winter. In recent years, is popular landscape trees in the wetlands or by the water front of ecological ponds and Lakes, it gives a fantastic view of brown red leaves fall.

Bald cypresses have very important roles in the wild. Since they tend to grow along rivers and in wetlands, they are excellent at soaking up floodwaters and preventing erosion. They also trap pollutants and prevent them from spreading. Frogs, toads, and salamanders use bald cypress swamps as breeding grounds. Wood ducks nest in hollow trunks, catfish spawn in the submerged hollow logs, and raptors like bald eagles nest in the treetops.
