PeoPo Citizen Journalism Platform teamed up with Pingtung Citizen Association to collectively hold this latest Your Shoot event. Yeh Qing-yuan (葉慶元) guided forty-plus citizen journalists on a tour of the place he grew up to raise awareness of issues surrounding the protection of military dependents’ villages in Taiwan.
During the period under Japanese rule, Chong-Ren Military Dependent’s Village adjacent to Pingtung’s Zhongshan Road was known as a “flying village” and housed the air force. It is the largest and best-preserved example of a Japanese housing for civil servants in the entire country. The post-war Nationalist Government turned it into an air-force military dependent’s village, but in recent years, it has faced the prospect of demolition. Fortunately, thanks to the diligent effort of Pingtung Citizen Association and village residents, 134 of the homes are now registered as historic buildings.
These precious historic buildings are slowly being returned to their original glory; however, residents hope that future plans for the village will incorporate cultural relics and old images that can provide tourists with a feel of bygone days and introduce the culture of military dependents’ villages.

位在屏東中山路旁的崇仁新村 ，在日治時期是飛行聚落，保有全台最具規模的日式宿舍群，戰後國民政府將其轉為空軍眷村，但在近幾年卻也面臨到眷村拆除的危機，好在有屏東愛鄉協會，和眷村居民的努力奔走下，目前已有134棟登錄為歷史建築。
珍貴的眷村歷史建物，正慢慢回復原本的面貌，但居民期望眷村未來的規劃，能多加入眷村文物及眷村意象，讓外地遊客能感受到眷村的生活樣貌，更加認識眷村文化。
