An organic farmer’s dream (Hu-Run Farm)

50-year-old Chen Bing-xuan (陳炳炫) abandoned his work in Taipei to go back and grow rice in his native county of Yilan. Adhering to the principles of organic farming, Chen Bing-xuan uses only the natural elements of sunshine, air and water to grow food for his family, friends and colleagues. His farming method not only ensures that the land will remain fertile, but also that the environment will remain pristine for the future generations to come.  

Chen Bing-xuan’s father and elder brother both died of liver cancer, 8 and 3 years ago respectively. Although Chen Bing-xuan is unable to categorically say whether the cause of their deaths was related to their work spraying pesticides in conventional farming, he nonetheless feels that organic farming is better for protecting one’s health and preserving the natural environment.

年過半百的陳炳炫放棄台北工作，回到家鄉宜蘭種田，並堅持以最自然的太陽、空氣、水來生產天然營養的食物給家人、朋友，同時也讓土地生養，留給後代一個乾淨的環境。

陳炳炫的父親與大哥，在八年前與三年前，都因罹患肝癌過世，他雖無法確定病因是因為慣行農法噴農藥的緣故，但他還是決定要以有機農法來耕作，維護自己的健康、也維護環境的原貌。
