Wenshan Oasis excavates lost hydrological legacy

Taipei’s Wenshan District is rich in natural waterways that used to supply locals with drinking water and irrigate crops. Today, however, most such waterways are buried underneath housing developments, leaving only a few in narrow lanes that have been concreted over. In 2015, the Wenshan Oasis project was set up with the aim of transforming these dead-end roads into green living spaces that can reduce rainfall runoff.

The Wenshan Oasis project is working to transform unused concreted spaces into breathable ground suitable for planting trees; convert damaged red brick walls into tree house spaces suitable for parents and children to play; and link up local community groups to create a small but beautiful eco-friendly living space. In recent years, such Open Green projects have seen many successful cases in the Jingmei and Wanglong areas of Taipei. In the coming years, the Wenshan Oasis team will follow this plan to transform the currently concreted back lanes of Wenshan and realize their vision for regenerating the city.

在水文生態豐富的台北市文山區，過去曾經用來灌溉取水的水路圳道，如今都被都市建築掩埋於地下，只留下巷弄間、塞滿水溝蓋的狹窄水泥地。在二〇一五年開始執行的「依山小綠洲」計畫，便是希望改造這些具排水價值的道路死角，並轉化成能夠減少雨水逕流量的綠生活空間。

將閒置的水泥空地，轉化成適合種植樹木的透氣地面；把破碎紅磚牆，改建成適合親子玩耍的樹屋空間；透過多個在地社群的串聯，把小而美的綠色生態置入生活空間。像這樣的「OpenGreen」計畫，近年在台北市景美、萬隆一帶已有多起成功案例，未來依山小綠洲團隊也將依循著這個計畫，著手進行後巷基地的具體改造，要把都市環境再生的願景付諸實現。
