Taoyuan Your Shoot - Learning about Yangmei

The first PeoPo Your Shoot event of 2017 was held in the bucolic Hakka village of Yongning in Taoyuan’s Yangmei District. The district owes its name to the abundance of yangmei trees (Myrica rubra) and is an important Hakka settlement. The village of Yongning is home to a revered old camphor tree thought to be in excess of 750 years old, which has accompanied the people for generations. In addition, a wonderful example of traditional Hakka architecture can be seen at the beautiful and secluded Huang family residence, Jiang Xia Hall, which is nestled amongst flowing streams and mountains.

More than a dozen enthusiastic citizen journalists participated in the event and helped convey the traditional rustic characteristic of Hakka culture through the lens.

桃園場踹拍 走讀楊梅

2017年PeoPo第一場踹拍活動，在純樸的客家聚落桃園市楊梅區永寧里展開，楊梅因為過去境內遍植楊梅樹而得名，是重要的客家聚落，在永寧里當地有一棵桃園市第一大的老樟樹，推估至今已有750歲，陪伴著客家子弟成長茁壯。另外在地的傳統客家建築「江夏堂」也是一大特色，環境依山傍水相當清幽。

活動現場有數十位公民記者熱情參與，互相交流，也透過大家的鏡頭，將最在地的客家質樸特色傳達出去。
